About Town

The eye of the Spy spotted these items today . . .

Columbia's favorite way of discouraging shoppers and visitors just got worse. Apparently, these meters aren't weather-sealed, so how do you know how many quarters to drop in?

Signs of the times . . .

 Sign at Columbia River Park

Sign along 441 in Washington Borough

Other stuff . . .

 Photo session on the tracks

One of the trunks from yesterday's Mount Bethel cutting.
Can anyone count the rings?

And there it goes.

River Park is a total JOKE!
JUST LIKE TURNING THE PROPERTY OVER TO CABIN DWELLERS AND THINKING IT'S TOTALLY PRIVATE PROPERTY!!!
Get real, past and present Council, AND LEO LUTZ!!!!

I guess the meter situation will dry up eventually... I guess the new Meter system(like they have in Lancaster, where you punch in space number) wouldn't work for Columbia cause it being small town, or even having parking permits for those who live or work at downtown business not have to worry about rushing out to slug the meter before the meter cop comes and tickets you.just ranting

Illegal trespassing on railroad property. This is a dangerous practice that results in DEATH. I will be forwarding this to Norfolk Southern Police for identification of violators. Check operation lifesaver for information on rail way safety.

After the rain yesterday I could not see how many minutes were on the meter so I had to put money in. So glad someone else saw this!

You are ridiculous. So you have nothing else to do? So you also to around measure how high weeds are in the alleyways?87

They made a mistake, but they are promptly correcting it.

A contractor painted the lines.

Ridiculous? Moron has equipment set up on an active mainline.

Check with the borough, they have some permit parking and I also thought they had something that allowed you to pay for more than two hours at a time.

Permit parking to go to the ATM? I doubt very many people will be buying into that.

Who are you saying is measuring weeds? I want to thank them because the weeds look like total s#$! this summer. No one gives a rat's a#! about how bad it looks. Trash and weeds everywhere.

Well it looked like the borough workers were stuck fixing it.

Stay old fashioned !!, plug the meters with quarters, but jack the price to a dollar ( yes, 4 little quarters ) for every 15 minutes, like in the big cities.

Ok... But what's the point???Accidents are occurring at the top of this hill, from people running the stop signs.. For Years! Why has the Boro ignored this for so long? There were at least 5 accidents, within months of each other, this year. Lines on the intersecting roads wouldn't have prevented or helped ANY of these accidents! Why not put strobe lights on the stop signs? Or is it cheaper for the Boro to pay a contractor to paint lines where they've never been and aren't needed?? Seriously!

Computerized Meters Suck, that is not what we want in Columbia !!

Anonymous said...

Anyone that can't paint a line properly should be Fired !

Make analog meters great again?

Anonymous said...

Agree, lights on stop signs warning that it is a dangerous intersection.

With what we pay in taxes you are suggesting higher meter rates so we can pay to pay water bills and do banking. That is just plain old fashioned crazy.
