its because the Boro has hundreds and hundreds and hundreds TOO MANY rental properties. they hop on the bus in Lancaster and come here because they get everything they want and need. and pay NOTHING for any of it. hell, they drive nicer cars than we do, get theri nails and hair done weekly, eat steak and lobster. and send their kids to OUR schools and they DON'T PAY A DIME
Some information not totally specific to Columbia Borough can be found at the link below. A large amount of calls come through the police station phone system and then go to LCWC. I wouldn't think they would be like a "911" call since they just get transferred to LCWC from the borough's phone system. For example, you call 684-7735 and no one picks up it rolls into LCWC and they answer. They don't answer those calls saying "911, do you need police, fire or ems".
I agree they sure do need to cut down on rental properties and inspect how many people live in them. Way too many on Sec. 8 of course people lie about how many plus how many don't pay head tax which bugs me as it is soon due. You could get a lot more money if this was checked in to.

So do the Columbia Borough Police provide the information to LCWC for their report? We really don't know, do we? I'd like to know where and how LCWC obtains the information placed in their report.
Not all of them. Only ones that require a police report to be completed will be documented by LCWC. The officers have to call in and get that number generated.
Think the math calculations in the article are amiss. If you check a bunch of the other municipalities, townships and boroughs, you'll find that many of them have more reported "police calls" than residents. For example, Ephrata's police calls number 14,335; its population is 13,516. Using the calculation in the article, the ratio is 1.07 rather than the article's graphic showing a 0.57 ratio.
New Holland's police calls number 6,856 and a population of 5,417 giving it a ratio of 1.27.
Maybe they should start charging for the nuisance calls they receive all the time and see how many of them type calls stop. People need get common sense and police themselves. I am 45 years old and have lived in Columbia my whole life and maybe called the police a handful of times. Like to see a report of addresses and see who are the repeat offenders

I advise you to secure a screenshot ASAP so charges can be filed. This Facebook banter is rising to a new level. With this mentality it's no wonder the cops here have so many calls. Too many uneducated people living in one small place.
Numbers are obviuosly padded. I agree with then quote from Brian Longs website "if Columbia’s police responses are so high, why does Columbia almost never appear in the POLICE LOG published almost daily in LNP". Any comparison to Lancaster City calls are a joke. How many gun crimes do we have here?

I think this information is very ambiguous. I would like to know the actual number of "911" phone calls that came into LCWC.
The cops have a babysitting job because some of the people living here do not have any sense.

I'll never use the local "684" number again if I need the police. I'll use 911 to be sure that the incident is recorded/reported.
