More vandalism at Locust Street Park

Columbia Spy received an anonymous tip about more vandalism in Locust Street Park. Upon investigation this morning, we found spray-painted graffiti and broken glass, as shown in the photographs below.

no one said it was the kids....... so you must feel really guilty right now and there is no doubt in my mind that is was them.

The park bench picture above with the graffiti was put there in memory of Paul and Emily Myers. If Gary Myers was still the Borough Manger and saw this he would be very angry and do something about it and not be dragging his feet. as we all know our local officials have been for a year now on this park issue.

That's the trash that is tearing down this town and it is time we take serious actions against them, if they don't like it here there is plenty of room in the GHETTOS of New York, Philly and the Congo. Get on a plane and go there.

Just being kids??? Are you serious??? When my kids are "just being kids" they're playing board games or playing in the yard not vandalizing our park!

Clarification: the first comment was total sarcasm, these kids, young people, whatever name you call them...are vandals and are destroying public property. I sincerely hope they are caught and made to pay.

This is what you get when you have an entitlement society. Many people no longer own anything, its just given to them, so they have no understanding in pride in keeping ones property and community clean. There is nothing we are going to do about it at a local level, this is coming from the policies of our federal government. So long as we keep making capitalism a dirty word and keeping voting in bleeding heart liberals, this is what we can expect.

The parents of these children should be charged with violating the park regulation where you must keep your animal on a leash.

I walked through the park today and it looked undesirable and even dirty in places. I will have to get used to it because no one can touch the people doing the damage and the littering. It's not just brats hanging out, now it's leaning toward gangs. Look at what the graffiti says, "Gotti Gang" , listen to the lyrics. This is pounding horrible evil into the heads of the youth. Listening to this could make anyone do crazy stuff. The stupidity is not with the comments, it's with the kids doing the damage and acting like delinquents in public places that belong to the taxpaying community. Put the blame where it belongs for once. People posting comments here are voicing an opinion, they are not the perpetrators.

I agree - Gotti Gang is horrible stuff, but I don't believe in censorship, and I don't believe it should be banned, just flushed - the same as any crap.

This was definitely teens. Not the normal crowd that is there. How do I know? #RIPLEEL has been all over my page. Shame on them

The kids should not be in the park the police need to make them get out.when they drive by they need to look that way and not turn there heads the other way and act like the kids are not there.

I think ghosts are doing the vandalizing, it's never anyone that is there.

this wasn't put here by kids, this was written by adults. maybe not mature but they were 24 and older
