Dozens of vehicles were damaged–their windows smashed and tires slashed–after five juveniles went on a vandalism spree in Lancaster County, according to police reports.
The vandalism occurred between June 16 and July 3 in the northeast section of Columbia Borough, police said.
So far, some 34 vehicles have been found with damage which include broken windows and windshields, broken side view mirrors and slashed tires. In one instance–the suspects threw a brick through a house window, investigators said.
Police spotted the suspects while on patrol during the early morning hours on July 3. One of the suspects was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.
A preliminary investigation revealed that five boys, ranging in ages from 10 to 14 years-old, were involved in the crime spree.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call Officer Austin Miller at 717-684-7735.

these juveniles are out of control. Time to call the State Police in they will take care of business.
I was disappointed with Officer Miller's comments on WGAL. His words and tone really minimized the outrage the community is expressing.
Parents need be held accountable and kids need harsh punishment. If not dealt with now they will be worse criminals in the future. Who knows next time could be armed robbery/burglary or worse. These kids should do some serious time in juvenile authority and maybe they can learn right from wrong since obviously there parents aren't doing there JOB!!!
what next a mugging or worst ??? first the code officers with their irresponsible actions and not this vandalizing. Wake up Mr. Mayor if you can spare the time!? These are not random acts these juveniles are doing. These are bad teens. take a look at Jason Playground and the river park etc. Vandalism is everywhere. the need to be held accountable for their ACTIONS. Talking to them has not worked. yes they are under age but this is why we have what they call community service or juvenile hall.

good question. The police on only doing what they do best with making excuses and the infamous "CYA". They say call us to report it. Then all the police do is talk to the teens. These teens are dangerous and will retaliate.
The State Police are not going to come in and take care of business. If you call them, they will refer you to your local police.
These kids are ages 10-14, maybe unattended while parents work. Columbia needs a creative program to keep this vulnerable age group busy in some productive way. Lots of peer pressure at this age.
These teens are so dangerous like you say. Maybe they are part of ISIS!!!! I'm so sick of people hiding behind a keyboard and judging everyone else. Get out in your community and make a difference. Help the police, help your town and the kids. Be a mentor or something positive. If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem....
its high time that these kids parents are charged with something. idk maybe failure to supervise underage children. something. this is the ONLY way to stop all this nonsense. FINE THE PARENTS ALONG WITH THE KIDS. period.
