Streets are rough in a few places on the southern end due to road work. Currently, work crews are continuing a paving project on Manor Street between Fourteenth and Fifteenth, where the street was milled recently.
(From Wikipedia:
"Pavement milling (cold planing, asphalt milling, or profiling) is the process of removing at least part of the surface of a paved area such as a road, bridge, or parking lot. Milling removes anywhere from just enough thickness to level and smooth the surface to a full depth removal. There are a number of different reasons for milling a paved area instead of simply repaving over the existing surface.")
And Twelfth Street is rough to drive on between Barber and Manor, due to recent milling.

Thanks for keeping us updated, great photos of our guys at work.
Why are we not sub-contracting out these type of jobs! I know it will save the TAX PAYERS MONEY!! But, the question is WHY, "WHY"!!!
Never ask why,,, just go thru foreclosure and keep paying taxes!!
Hey,,, council is the little section of Historic Ave J getting, paved? Oh that's right it's getting stoned, according to the mayor,, of course maybe just freaking maybe,,,,
You will wake up and close both ends to vehicular traffic and skip all your drama!!!
Green space!!!
Fyi, yeah plenty of on street parking, so that don't work.
Only foot traffic is needed to access the Private Abandoned Alley known as Ash Alley!!!!
And LASA when done with their findings,,,,
Mm bet they just need occasional access for sewer repair.
Solution,,,,, locked gate at Bank Ave and Historic Ave J,,
Or work A DEAL OUT WITH OWNERS OF RIVERTOWN ANTIQUES FOR ACCESS!
Get the thing closed, unless,,,, acess is needed for roadkill or any other uncoded and illegal activity!!!
Poof!!
without all the drama, i have to say that I believe that Ave J SHOULD remain green space...do NOT pave it or stone it. Seriously????? this is history. trying to bring more visitors into town...the ghost tours ALWAYS SOLD out. theres BIG money in that kind a thing. AND THE GREEN ALLEY WOULD BE A PART OF IT. LET IT BE! Its like taking a walk back in time.
Its crazy that were using boro employees for this kind of work. It costs more & were not getting as good of quality of work. They are using too small of grinder & paver. We end up with 2 seams instead of 1 down the middle. The powers that be are just creating job security for boro workers. While taxpayers are paying more to get less.
Cola now has real professionals running our wastewater system. And well pay a lot less for it in the long run.
Them milled streets are probably still smoother then most of the streets in town.
What is the big freaking deal with YOU wanting that damned alley closed? Get over your personal issues with your neighbors already! Stop trying to make this a boro issue.
really people????? the milled sts are MUCh better than before AND guess again if you think LASA will cost less....good luck with that.
How much money" TAX PAYER"S " is this costing us?? Lets see Dollars NUMBERS! These borough employees are getting payed more then if we could outsource the street jobs!! Another bull-schitt borough decision!!
Not only are we paying more for labor, but were paying for eqpt & maintaining it. If this was such A good idea, why wouldn't entities with bigger work forces & bigger tax bases be doing this.
I agree 100%, DO YOU HEAR THIS MAYOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well said!!
NO ONE WANTS TO HEAR ABOUT IT ANYMORE!!!
You are not the only person in the area, but you are the only one who wants it closed! Let it go!
There are more important things to deal with.
