Columbia school board approves tax reductions on more property improvements

Columbia School District officials approved tax abatements Thursday that would allow residents to make property improvements without immediately incurring more taxes.

The measure, officials said, would provide an incentive for residents to improve their properties.

wow ! - that's just great - I bet homeowners will be lined up now at Borough Hall to get permits to fix up their properties - Is this really what the powers that be think will help this town ?

It's not really about homeowners, this was put in place for a select few businesses. The personal agendas will continue as long as sheriff Lutz is in control.

agreed. but until some of us step up to the plate and attend mtgs and let our voices be heard....there will be NO change

It's more to do with finding good candidates and running campaigns at election time. Only one other person ran for Mayor and they had a lack of support. They only needed a few hundred more votes to win in a town of 10,000 ! How hard would it be to organize a campaign and win, really ? We need to get better people in office.
