CBFD's new vehicle - a 2019 Ford F-450 truck
Columbia Spy recently got an up-close look at the new fire police vehicle that was picked up and driven home from Georgia by members of the Columbia Borough Fire Department last week. The vehicle, a 2019 Ford F-450 truck, was built by Fouts Brothers of Atlanta and boasts a 6.7 liter diesel engine and four-door crew cab. Although it's a basic model - with crank windows and push button locks - it has a few necessary extras: a reader board, artificial lighting units that can illuminate entire intersections, and storage compartments for helmets, vests, safety cones, and other equipment. In addition, the cab contains a dashcam that records the road ahead as well as the vehicle driver.
Last April, Columbia Borough Council approved $99,207 for the vehicle, in a 6-1 vote. The fire department provided about $20,000 for the added safety equipment.

So are we supposed to be upset about this?
NO
Why would it upset anyone it will better serve Columbia for emergencies and events
That's right.
At least it's not another police car.
It should upset you when theyret a volunteer organization tasked with seof funding. Does anybody know how much money the borough has spent on fire apparatus before the consolidation? Here's a hint, nothing from nothing leaves nothing.
And it wouldn't be needed yet if the previous hadn't been driven into the ground by an irresponsible officer.
great they really do a good job , now they got a good truck.
Do the math villain, at one point there were 5 fire depts equaling,12 or 13 vehicles, if the boro would have baught new apparatus, for everyone the expense would have been threw the roof, now there is 1 dept, that the boro souly relies on, 4 pieces of apparatus at a guess of the new dept, its easier to help and fund, i believe they are selling 3 replacing 2, and they are still going to sufficantly protect the needs of the boro, ( personal comment i am not a representative of the dept) do the math it makes sense,, good decision on spending in the boro
Everyone should be very pleased that their tax dollars went toward what they should be going toward. If we had to pay a fire department in Columbia, we would never ever make it. I for one am thankful that we have a volunteer department that is so dedicated. If any of us are unfortunate enough to be in a car accident or have our house burning down, we can rest assured they would help in any way they could. If this truck helps a volunteer be safer while assisting others, then I'm all for it.
that is a nice peace of equipment but i am a little confused is it the fire company's or the fire police i only ask because the truck says its fire and rescue but i see fire police helmets in the one bay of the truck
ETV dont know where you got your info the truck has not been driven into the ground just time to upgrade from a 1992 truck
It is Fire Police the Fire Police is part of Columbia Borough Fire Dept.
Go for it Mike , you are doing a hell of a job, firing range is open.
thank you i did'n know they were part of the fire company. do you know what they are going to do with the old fire police vehicle
The truck will be sold by bid
Where are we at with the union street ramp just think if our emergency personel needs the money pit ramp and it is full , they say it is so full so a second ramp for river emergencies is needed. There is also borough ground at locust street that should be part of our river enterence for the public.
you can use the union st ramp anytime it is public good luck finding a place to park your truck and trailer as for the river park if their is an emergency the fire company, police and all other emergency personal will shut it down just like they do for any other emergency
take the width of the street to the river, now 2 ramps
Plus locust st , it is borough property 30 feet bon each side of center line
Both streets have center lines 35 feet on each side of the center line is the right a way , some have built things on the rite a way , but that is borough property , Mary said " the park is the enternce to Columbia" , so why not widen the 2 streets for 2 more ramps and parking on the widened streets, we put money in to a fence (32,000 dollars and 8,000 trees ) on heritage drive so way not the other 2 borough owned ramps? they say it is so full on weekends ,this should be a no brainer. A hell of a lot cheaper then 8 to 9 million Mary wants to expand the money pit . Our street deptment did heritage so they would have no problem doing the ramps.
I agree no more money pit it is big enough. $40,000 could have put two more ramp areas and keep $35,000 in the boro fund. The fence was aready hit a few times and is broken at one spot now, NO MORE TAX PAYER REPAIRS on A fence that is at best a nother council/mayor FART.
wow no comments from the advisors of the river park board?
They want 8 or 9 million , they don't give a dam about the other ramps , that wouldn't come under the park that ma-- built, now would it???
