Does anyone remember the winter of 1993/1994, in particular, January of 1994. One of the worst winters I can remember when considering cold temps. There was a strech of 4 days in January 1994 where we had negative readings including one day where the high temp was -1. I looked it up and here are the temps for that stretch: 1/18: Hi 12 Low -4 1/19: Hi -1 Low -13 1/20: Hi 7 Low -3 1/21 Hi 14 Low -10.

I remember schools were closed and just before the cold stretch hit, a light snow of an inch or two fell. It stuck to the roads and major roads such as Route 30, Route 283, Route 222 had a coating of ice on them for several days because PennDOT could not get it off. It was too cold for salt to work and when they tried to use plows, it broke the plow blades.

Guess that puts our little cold stretch in perspective. LOL

Yes I remember it all too well, swore I would move to a warmer climate and here I am still cursing the cold. How about that storm of ICE over valentines day in the mid 2000s! Another fat mess.

I remember it. I think schools were shut down for almost a week. Thanks for the interesting info.
