Columbia among those planning to request block grants for infrastructure, building projects

Five municipalities and two nonprofit organizations submitted letters of intent for eight pending project proposals to the Lancaster Redevelopment Authority, which administers the block grant on behalf of the county.

Columbia plans to submit applications for two projects — including $200,000 for improvements to the vacant Columbia Market House, which local officials have said they hope to redevelop and reopen sometime this year.

RIVER PARK...KEEP IT SIMPLE. PORTA POTS ON TRAIL. MORE PARKING. BENCHES ON TRAIL. MAYBE A WALKING BRIDGE. THAT'S IT. NO MORE. WE DON'T NEED TO SPEND ANOTHER $8 OR $9 MILLION ON THIS. THE TAXPAYERS ARE THE ONLY ONES PAYING FOR IT.

And people who don't pay taxes use it. They come ride and leave I saw it happen. Maybe sell food and drinks to recover some of our money.

The other project is road improvements to the 300 block of south second street. its in the link provided. On a side note, not in favor of porta johns! yuck! And there are quite a number of benches on the trail. Paid for by sponsors. Just saying.
