I am not sure I agree with the use of drones in Columbia. I think this will be abused by code enforcement as well as law enforcement to snoop on people without their knowledge. Don't we have a right to privacy?
Do some research. The drones cannot be used to invade your privacy under state law and court decisions. They cannot be used for code violations or by police in conducting investigations directed at a certain person. They can be used in emergency situations such an a active shooter or barricaded gunman. As helm and brommer said they would be useful in emergencies.
Good to use them in a real LIFE SAVING emergency situation only - that's it.
Unfortunately, Columbia Borough has other larger issues to address and correct which is not happening. #1 being a large decrease in taxes to your homeowners. There are other ways to cut cost and gain revenue. Regularly increasing taxes proves the fiscal irresponsibility of those in charge at Columbia Borough.
we have had one tax increase in 11 years. How is that "regular?" At this point, I think a "large decrease" would either be irresponsible or impossible...
Then you haven't been paying attention. Go to meetings and listen to this council and look at the careless spending on the agenda. They are completely out of control, which is why there is a tax increase
NO drones. NO more rentals. Create a tenant tax. remove at least 500 if not 700 rental properties in this small boro. turn them back into single owned family homes. then you could get rid of HALF the codes dept
i agree 100%. NO DRONES. No control, no you can't put baby in the corner. times up. the hardworking middle class taxpaying homeowners have HAD ENOUGH. We are done. It's time to take control over the Borough and act for the majority of its constituents!!!!!

ReplyDeleteI don't see how ANY resident thinks the drone is a good idea. This is a complete invasion of privacy.
ReplyDeleteThis town has more rules and code officers than we need and arbitrary enforcement makes it even tougher to swallow.
It's time residents stand up to those creating borough ordinances.
