CMX will produce high-quality copper casting alloys at the Columbia, Pennsylvania, facility. In addition to acquiring Colonial's assets, CMX paid the company's remaining debts to allow the company to avoid bankruptcy, president Tim Strelitz told Argus.
Colonial Metals shuttered in June 2018 because of financial difficulties. Its Columbia foundry is the only brass and bronze manufacturing facility with a submerged electric arc furnace, which was used to recover low-grade copper scrap.
At the time of its closure, the facility was processing an estimated 90mn lbs of scrap metal per year.
CMX is the largest red metal, brass and bronze ingot manufacturer on the west coast, with an annual production capacity of more than 36mn lbs.

That's wonderful to have industry back in town. Good for employees
People: whine about tax increases.
Same people: whine because industry makes dirt and noise.

If towns could survive off antique shops and cute cafes, there wouldn't be a broke town in the entire country.
For one im glade the foundrys coming back ill live next to it since the 80s and ill be glade to continue to
I am so happy industry is returning to our town. We need a store like Woolworths used to be not antiques and restaurants you can only eat out so often. Who can afford to eat out with the costs in these restaurants.
I miss C.A.Herr more then anything, they had every nut and bolt i ever needed now im left to go to fastensl in lancaster everytime i need a good grade 8 bolt,,
