Ain't that the truth! We pay enough in taxes now we have to pay to find out what they are doing with the money we already gave them!!!?? What a load of crap.
For YEARS NOW Columbia Boro Council has been shady with their Final Decisions. This is why we are in a failing state of Confusion. The choices made seldom benefit the town as a whole but certainly benefit the chosen few with their agendas. Two recent Examples are the River Front Property and the Market House.
The Historic District is over run by slum lords, codes and police can't keep up. Home owners that try to maintain their properties are starting to give up. Others who own and neglect continue to be overlooked. Yes Columbia, soon you will be in a point of no return. WAKE UP
If you want to know where your "high taxes" are going, attend school board meetings.
just another cover up I see. what a shame. There is a property owned by the Borough at 509 Locust Street the roof is in very bad shape. With loose shingles and tiles blowing all over neighboring properties. and don't park your car in front of this property. a neighbor's car roof was scratched for roof shingles. this has been going on for over year now. Cole you should come get photographs, it's terrible.
How about what is going on at these borough meetings! So damn crooked it makes me sick!! And its both school board and borough that makes me SICK!!
I agree 100% Now i would like to know where is the money from the LASA deal!!
Could-do-better, CEDC | Interestingly, the borough voted last night to put two more properties into the hands of the Columbia Economic Development Authority. "At last night’s council meeting, council approved turning over properties at 137 South Front Street and 509 Locust Street Based to that seemingly letharic organization. Based on that organization’s handling of the Hotel Locust and Hotel Columbia properties, can the borough look for more inaction and property degradation?"

Apparently, based on comment posted on LNP site someone in Columbia is confusing PUBLIC right to know information with private emails. A clear case of backstabbing.
Adding to this, if the "backstabber" was receiving sensitive or private information that should not have been shared with him, then shame on him for not stepping up at the time and stopping it. Do not twist the public right to know into your personal vendetta.
I hope that there is an explanation as to why under deeds recorded, 509 Locust Street was conveyed to Columbia Borough for $74,300. I was under the impression that the bank was "giving" this property to the borough. Considering the deplorable state this property is in, no one would ever pay for it. If tax dollars are involved there is a real problem.
At one point a council person stated that the borough is not in the business of real estate. If I recall correctly, Council recently reneged on allowing CEDC to handle 509 Locust Street. So what are their plans for this property? Maybe we aren't supposed to know.
If you want to make a public statement like that then cough up the emails today, go to the borough office and turn them over to the council president. Otherwise you are part of the problem.
Yes, a source relayed that the borough decided against "giving" that property to the CEDC; maybe because there's no confidence that that entity has no track record of success. While the organization self praises itself for the Turkey Hill Experience. A slew of other operatives were part of bring THE to its current state, with far fewer employment opportunities than promised early on.
The agenda tab on borough website provides a blank page. In an LNP article dated April 6th, the open records officer said she will begin posting draft agendas online the Thursday before each meeting. That was yesterday. The council meeting is this Monday April 11th.
