Public Forum To Discuss Trails - March 16 at Columbia Crossing | TownLively

The hopes, wishes, and, yes, gripes of trail users will be heard at a public forum on Saturday, March 16, at the Columbia Crossing River Trails Center, 41 Walnut St., Columbia. Registration will open at 8:30 a.m., and the program will run from 9 to 11 a.m.

Gun-toting robber hits Chestnut Street Turkey Hill Wednesday morning


On 02-13-19 at or about 0438 hrs, Columbia Police responded to the Turkey Hill at 342 Chestnut St. for a report of a robbery.  The suspect displayed a black in color handgun during the robbery.  The clerk stated that it appeared that the handgun had an orange tip on the end of the barrel.  The suspect is described as a thin white male, approximately six feet tall.  Columbia Borough Police encourage anyone with information about this case to call or submit a tip.

FREE CLASSES: SURVIVING AN ACTIVE SHOOTER & CRIME PREVENTION IN HOUSES OF WORSHIP | Columbia Borough Police Department

The Columbia Borough Police Department will host two classes on Thursday, February 21, 2019 beginning at 6:00pm at St. Peter's Catholic Church (121 S. 2nd Street, Columbia, PA).  Ephrata Police Chief William Harvey will be presenting free classes entitled "How to Survive an Active Shooter Event" and "Crime Prevention for Houses of Worship".  Each class will be 1 hour in length with a 15 minute break in between.  The public and members of churches in the greater Columbia area are welcome to attend this beneficial night of safety information.  Pre-registration is requested by contacting Dianne Carter at K9carter890@gmail.com.

2018 Year In Review | Columbia Borough Police Department

Below are some of the statistics for the Columbia Borough Police Department for 2018.

-          The Columbia Borough Police Department handled 14,127 (Approx. 3% increase over 2017) calls through Lancaster County Wide Communications. Columbia Borough ranks as the 7th busiest police department in Lancaster County out of 29 police departments dispatched by Lancaster County Wide Communications.

 

-          Out of the top 15 most dispatched police units in the county, Columbia Borough had two units in this group. They were ranked 11th and 13th.

 

-          There was 3,157 calls directly into the Columbia Borough Police Station during hours a civilian service aide (CSA) was on duty to answer calls. This is down from last year as there is no longer a full time CSA on in the evenings.

 

-          11,901 parking tickets issued

 

-          755 traffic citations issued or filed

 

-          154 non-traffic citations issued or filed

 

-          263 criminal charges completed (this number does not reflect PFA violations filed or juvenile allegations completed)

 

-          257 accident reports completed

·         Officers also assisted with many public safety and awareness events, volunteered in town, read books to children in the schools and at the public library, assisted with the Marine Corps League Toys for Tots program and participated in other events in and out of town.
