Columbia's municipal tax rate to drop

At Monday's borough council meeting, Council President Kelly Murphy announced that the borough's millage rate will decrease from the current 8 mills to 6.6 mills due to the recent county-wide reassessment.

Taxing entities adjust their millage rates down in proportion to an increase in taxable assessment.

The school district must readjust their tax rate as the borough did. This is not a tax cut, simply a readjustment.
