Still reeling from an abrupt firing from his role as head of the Columbia Market House in March, Chris Vera was surprised to get a letter in the mail from a Columbia Borough attorney two weeks later telling him he was banned indefinitely from borough property. The letter gave no reason for the ban. Nine months later, Vera, who has served as president of the Columbia Historic Preservation Society for more than a decade and has helped with the borough’s comprehensive plan, is still banned from borough property. He believes the ban includes borough parks, which is part of the reason he moved his annual Albatwitch Day festival, which celebrates the myth of a local cryptid, to Wrightsville. Why in the hell do I now have to spend money on a mulching mower? I'm already paying hundreds of dollars a month to the borough for basic services.
Number 2:
Blowing or mowing the grass away from sidewalks and streets is common sense, but it does look and smell bad after while. Someone has been walking a mower on our sidewalk (apparently borrowing it) leaving grass clippings all over. Where do you suggest I put them? Extra work for me cause it makes my walk look like sh#!
Number 3:
The mayor was happy to report that with each passing year the "Spring Clean Up" sees less junk to haul away and it takes less time. Perhaps the reason is that there are so many restrictions now on what qualifies to be hauled away during the "Spring Clean Up." And now the restriction on grass clippings! If you truly want to clean up the borough, just take it and cut the bull.

It's not about having guts.
Most of the residents they represent are indeed poor or at least struggling.
The comment under yard waste post where someone says "buy a mulching mower." Obviously this person never had to live paycheck to paycheck or else they have forgotten. A mulching mower is not in the budget for most Columbia residents.
The borough farm receives yard waste from other municipalities, I wonder if they are banned from grass clippings as well.
