Are we SURE those traffic lights are synced?

A car got "stuck" on the tracks near River Park yesterday, due the traffic signals turning red while it was exiting. (The car can be seen just above the road level, in the above photo.)  A precarious place to be, especially when a train is coming. (Luckily, one wasn't.)

seriously. IF the lights are NOT synced and they turn WHILE you are ON the tracks.....keep going (looking for vehicles both ways first!) it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure this one out!

And who would be at fault if an accident did occur under such circumstances? The public would be better served if the lights were fixed.

It did happen to me and I did what I NEVER do, went through on red. Lucky for me the coast was clear. All drivers will not react the same way under this circumstance. The lights need to work properly, this isn't a guessing game. I'm betting if LCSWMA trucks are flying on 441, you just might have to stop on the tracks, take your pick hit by truck or train.

Let's see how easy your solution is when warm weather arrives and the river park is full. Will you be able to push other cars out of your way as you cross the tracks? The lights need to work properly and it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure that one out either.

East Donegal man charged in Columbia hit & run

NATHAN WILLISON | LNP Staff Writer An East Donegal Township man is facing criminal charges after police say he struck a 13-year-old with his truck and fled the scene last month.  Derek Scott Mohr, 28, is charged with causing an accident involving death or injury without a license, failing to stop to render aid, driving at an unsafe speed and related charges.  Mohr had been driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado through Chestnut Street in Columbia around 8 p.m. March 20 when he struck a 13-year-old boy riding a motorized scooter and continued driving, according to charging documents filed by police.  When police arrived, they found the boy with a broken leg and a cut to his forehead.   GUEST COMMENTARY [Name withheld by request out of fear of retaliation] For two decades, Leo Lutz has occupied the mayor's office in Columbia, and his supporters are quick to credit him with every positive development in our borough, but leadership is a two-way street. If Mayor Lutz is going to accept praise for Columbia's successes, many of which, frankly, he had little direct involvement in, then he must also be held accountable for our failures.
