The new year almost came in with a bang when a pickup truck narrowly avoided hitting two gas pumps this morning at about 2:30 at the Columbia Sunoco station. A Chevy Colorado LT traveling west on Route 462 reportedly clipped another vehicle at the intersection at Fifteenth Street, then jumped a curb and swerved into the gas station. In the process, the pickup hit and bent a pipe guard next to a gas pump and narrowly missed a second pump as it hit a support post, where it came to rest. The pickup sustained severe front end damage. Both vehicles involved in the accident were towed from the scene.

Wow wonder how fast they where going to do all that damage. Think speed limit is 35 mph thru there.

It happened at 2:15 a.m. I was the driver of the second car she almost hit head on and going airborne about 8 feet in the air after hitting the first guardrail protecting the pumps then she hit the second post. I was the first one to call 9-1-1 and approach the vehicle but thanks for the anonymity. I wonder if I would have had the same anonymity if she were to have hit me head on and caused a fatality or the little green Ford aspire she clipped before heading the pumps
It sounds like you want recognition for being a good samaritan and that's great, but it's also the law to stop at the scene of an accident and call for help. All fatalities would become public knowledge. Perhaps your name was not released by those in authority to do so. I do not recall seeing any other article about this accident (? LNP). Thanks for posting it here Cole, otherwise we may not have known what happened.
Yes, like other accidents that we know happened, but it's like they never did!
My son was behind a car that flipped over onto its side and he immediately stopped and encouraged the elderly female driver to remain calm, assuring her that help was on the way. He also was first on scene and a witness, but his name was never mentioned and he went on to work afterwards. Anonymity, absolutely, but it did not matter to him, he did the right thing and he knows it, doesn't matter if everyone knows.
He did the right thing.
