Where's the railing?

SEEN TODAY . . .
A section of the railing at the Locust Street Park gazebo is missing, and the gated entrance was left open.  Was the railing removed for repair/replacement, or did it simply disappear?

Closer inspection reveals that screws were removed so probably maintenance of some sort.

my sources said it was broken by a teenage girl. The battle begins.
Kids 1-- Police 0. What's next another park bench or maybe a living tree? more policing needs done in the Park now. These kids are back and relentless. keep them out please. what happen to foot patrol and bike patrol...........

Is there cameras there??

there is a camera there. but I don't think anybody looks at the footage. otherwise there would be more arrest for damage. if the parents start getting fines for what there daughter or son is unlawfully doing maybe just maybe the vandalism will stop. no more warnings and talking to these kids. It's time for action and keep them out park Period.

I see the borough police at the columbia family restaurant mostly all morning and sometimes in the afternoon!!

Why was money wasted on cameras? Are they helping reduce crime and vandalism?

Agreed the police are usually "stationed " at chestnut street turkey hill or at Columbia family restaurant or various other convenience stores around town, I would think with the taxes in Columbia they should be out patrolling the streets and having more of a role in crime prevention stance instead of a lets wait here at turkey hill or Columbia family until something does happen. It's a total waste of tax payer dollars to pay upwards of 75 to 100 K to these guys to essentially hang out. I agree with the other persons comment the bike patrols and foot patrols would help to greatly reduce criminal mischief and vandalism types of crimes.

I guess they forgot about the resolution that pass about the Locust Street Park including the Chief and the Mayor and Council.

Get real people for the most part the cops in this town do a good job with what they have to work with. And if previous commenters have jobs I guess they don't get breaks at work. I normally work a 8 hour shift and get 3 breaks in that time. It can't all fall on the cops parents need start raising there kids properly and citizens need report crimes if see them happening. Unfortunately Columbia has become a small Lancaster and this is the shit that comes with it.

They are afraid of the drug dealers and do very little foot patrol!!!!!!!!

The police in Columbia do a good job and most of the people who bash them are the ones the police have to deal with. I would love to see the bashers follow one for 24 hours.

No police officer works 24 hours! Maybe 10 or 12 in one day.
