The plan was for a 33-unit apartment building to be constructed here.

That was back in 2017.

Appliance store proposed for former bank site

 

The former Union Community Bank building at 921 Lancaster Avenue.

A Majik Appliance store is being proposed for the the site of the former Union Community Bank at 921 Lancaster Avenue, according to documents included in the July 20, 2021 Columbia Borough Planning Commission meeting packet. (The documents can be found HERE.)

The development plan calls for demolition of the existing bank building to make way for construction of a 7,200 square-foot appliance rental store. The property is currently owned by Northwest Bank. 

The issue will be discussed at tonight's Planning Commission meeting, which will be livestreamed on the Columbia Borough Facebook page.

Wells Fargo ATM is coming to the Columbia Plaza

 A Wells Fargo ATM is coming to the Columbia Plaza. Currently, workmen from Burkey Construction out of Reading are proceeding with initial construction, which will take several days. The ATM will be located at the "bottom" of the plaza parking lot, next to the railroad tracks.

Corvette burns at the bridge plaza; firefighters douse the flames

 

The Columbia Borough Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire at the Veterans Memorial Bridge plaza shortly after 8 o'clock this morning. Firefighters arrived to find a Corvette Stingray aflame and quickly doused the flames.
