Agenda - Borough Council Meeting August 10, 2015

$3500 A DAY! OVER $25,000 TO DATE!

That's the cost to the borough for keeping three certified flaggers from Flagger Force on duty around the clock on the 200 block of Locust Street. The block was shut down last week due to the endangered building at 208-210 Locust. At last night's borough council meeting, it was announced that the cost to date is about $25,000 - for all undertakings related to the property, including Flagger Force, fire police, police department, public works personnel, signage, barricades, and other structures supplied by the borough. Costs will continue until the facade is taken down - at least another week. The cost will be billed to the property owner, Samuel Bigler.

Monday night - the rest of the story

About an hour after last night's disturbance at Sixth and Walnut Streets, depicted in the video HERE, Columbia Borough and West Hempfield Police arrived on the 100 block of South Fourth Street after slurs and threats were reportedly made towards certain residents there. The threats allegedly originated with some of the people involved in the first incident.

The photos below show the activity on South Fourth at about 6:30 p.m.

This photo, taken today, shows the vehicle believed to have been involved in the incident at Sixth and Walnut.  It previously sported a Confederate flag.
