The 100 and 200 blocks of Walnut Street will be closed from May 28, 2026 until sometime in September for a road construction project that includes new curb and sidewalks, street lighting, bike lane, paving and conversion to one-way from Third Street to Front Street.
Columbia received about $900,000 in 2020 in federal money distributed by the Lancaster County Metro Planning Organization. The borough will supply the rest of the estimated $1.3 million (2023 estimate) construction cost.
