Columbia gets another mural

Artist Carrie Kingsbury (shown here with work in progress) completed a mural at the former Catholic War Vets on Tuesday afternoon.

Artist Carrie Kingsbury teamed up with her son on Monday to paint a stunning mural on the wall of the former Catholic War Vets building on the 600 block of Avenue H, next to the side parking lot at CVS.

The finished mural features "playing card" characters painting blossoms on trees.

Kingsbury, who owns Promiseland Murals, has been working as a full-time muralist since 2001 and has created thousands of residential and commercial custom murals over the years. Her work ranges from nursery accent walls to large-scale historical-themed building facades.

Although based in Pennsylvania, Kingsbury has painted murals all over the United States and has even traveled to India to work.

In addition to her work as a muralist, Kingsbury is also known for her portraits and furniture painting.

Kingsbury finished the mural Tuesday afternoon.
