Bob Smith (right) and Bob Warfel hung Hometown Hero banners downtown over the last few days. Smith spearheaded the effort to get the project going, noting that actually hanging the banners was a sticking point, until Columbia Borough offered to help. "Thank God for the borough employees," Smith said. "That was a big part of the puzzle. It's been a long time coming."

35 banners are slated to be hung in the first install, with 50 more scheduled in two weeks and 50 more after that. Smith said there have been 145 to 150 banners ordered so far. The backstory is HERE.

Turning his back on accountability?

Work continues at 551 Avenue H. This blighted property has been the proverbial thorn in the borough's side since at least 2015. The current plan is to rehab it, as announced at the July 12, 2022 Columbia Borough Council meeting.

Meanwhile, in York County

A utility van with a trailer spilled screws from 5th & Mill to Concord Avenue, causing multiple vehicles to get flat tires Thursday, according to the Columbia Borough Police Department Facebook page. Police seek information. Borough workers removed the screws.

The fence at the Wright Mansion is being repainted. The gray color is primer. According to a worker at the mansion, a new roof won't be installed until spring, because the roof tiles need to be handmade.

There are a lot of these around town.

No radicalism, please. Columbia's a sleepy little town, and Columbians prefer it that way.

This, apparently, is his friend.
