A large gathering of residents of Columbia Borough occurred Sunday afternoon, led by the Columbia Democratic Committee. The meeting was intended to identify community leaders who are interested in running for office in Columbia in the coming year. The Committee is also seeking residents to serve as committee people, organizing in their respective neighborhoods and supporting local municipal candidates for 2019.
Issues on which Democratic candidates will be focusing include using taxpayer money for public good, not for private development interests as well as improving the standard of living for Columbia residents and transparency in local government.

No. School taxes are different. The tax increase is for the municipal tax, sometimes referred to as the "spring" tax. The school taxes are levied in the fall.
You would get much more support for this issue if you don't tie the agenda to one political party or the other. It needs to be about electing those who will right this wrong. Most Republicans do not support this tax increase. Please don't make this about growing support for the Democratic party.
I hope you do something about the school tax they are worse than the boro tax
Even if Columbia borough has to lay off employees we need to save and not keep spending!!!
I agree we never had all these employees it just keeps growing. Remember we are a SMALL TOWN.
We welcomed everyone into our home, there were Republicans, Independents, Democrats, hell there was even a mole!
We are all in the tax boat together. For a while, I was not affiliated with a "party" until I felt the pain of being excluded from voting in the primary elections. Don't forget that both Republicans and Democrats voted YES to the tax increase. We can work together, just like they did. Thanks to all that attended, more showed up for this than attend most council meetings. Sharon

Columbia Borough has more employees than they need. It's time to go lean.
We are a town not a business. We are a town in the middle of so many attractions. We don't need a draw to bring people in to town, our location is the draw. The taxes however are the wake up call to check out Wrightsville or some other sounding town.
