The smell of burning rubber saturated the air around the AutoZone parking lot along Columbia Avenue as clouds of smoke drifted overhead. About 100 people with over three dozen vehicles, including cars, trucks, and bikes, converged on the lot Saturday night. The Street Invasion Purge Meet featured revving and burnouts, most in the nearby McDonald's parking lot. Squealing tires and roaring engines dominated the night for over an hour as drivers were urged on by spectators who recorded the action with cellphones. At one point a female employee of McDonald's approached the motorists and shouted at them to leave. Although the crowd was high-spirited, no fighting or vandalism occurred.
Shortly after 9 p.m., a line of vehicles abruptly left the lot in anticipation of police arriving. After the mass exodus, two police cruisers – one each from West Hempfield and Columbia - appeared after most of the participants had left.

Too bad there's not a local, legal place for them to do this. They were having a good time.
Where's the pics of the Bridge Bust, a far more worthier event and pretty sure the businesses at that shopping center weren't happy about it either.
It's a shame they all work full-time jobs and can't find nothing better to do yea...they weren't hurting anyone or damaging anything they weren't out at midnight squealing around doing it in the main roads endangering other drives instead they did it in a parking lot a big one at that. So before you piss and moan know that it could have been much worse.

Thank you Owen and you are correct. When I was in high school kids rode through Long Park and a loop through the city. Usually we ended up at McDonald's on Columbia Avenue in Lancaster. Good kids having a good time and guess what...the powers that be put an end to it. Someone with some money to invest should create a local place where this could be done legally.
Worthier event? You've got to be kidding! I saw Cutco knives for sale! Every year the stands seem to get worse. Crafts you can buy anywhere. Several spots were not filled. Get some higher quality merchandise out there then we can talk about a worthier event.

I believe they were out there a few weeks ago also. I think it's great that they can all get together and share a common interest without causing any trouble! Better than walking around the streets looking for trouble. Kudos to them!

We have done it there before this one and the police were in there with us and they left and never came back.. no one got in trouble just difference between this one and the other one was that some people were going to the McDonald's to do burnouts..
As long as they have permission from all parties involved and are orderly, left them gather.
