COLUMBIA, Pa. (WHTM) – Michael Venker, a trucker who dropped off a load of copper in Columbia on Tuesday, told ABC 27 News the ramp for the Route 441 bypass looks "daunting."
The ramp, set to open later this month, is part of a $12 million project designed to keep truck traffic out of the downtown. However, the appearance of a steep ramp may be steep enough to cause concerns.

wow. really. it would not surprise me that whoever designed it has not a clue (same thing as the boat ramp at the River!) this is unacceptable. whenever ANY project is being planned, they should enlist the advice of tose who will be using it and who have an absolute opinion on how to do it and how not to do it. add ice to the already steep ramp and you spell trouble. what a bunch of imbeciles.
what a shame. i was all for diverting the downtown truck traffic but NOT at the expense of an already stressful job for tractor trailer drivers that sounds to be unsafe. where in the hell do these architects and engineers come from? i agree. the river park architect was unqualified too.
The people designing the bypass probably never drove a large truck. It's the same all over. Where I work, engineers or architects designed bathrooms that nursing staff had to assist patients in and out of. Needless to say, the designers never had to be in the bathroom assisting others, so you end up with a very inefficient mess. By the time the problems arise, it's too late and costs too much to go back and fix or change anything.
what a sin. i agree with the last 2 comments. it makes you wonder about these so called engineers and architects who have NO business designing something they have no idea about and can't relate. DUH
