Over 100 people turn out to remember two residents whose lives were lost in today's house fire

Over 100 people attended this evening's candlelight vigil on South 2nd Street to remember Cami Jo Combs and her daughter Callie whose lives were lost in a house fire there this morning.

Starview Brews hoping for March opening in downtown Columbia


Work is continuing on Starview Brews in Columbia, which is hoping to open in March.
Manager and owner Mike Knaub said it has been taking longer than expected to get the brewery ready, but he now hopes to begin beer production by the end of January.

Transformer wire on fire on New Year's Eve at 8th & Walnut


Several fire departments and PPL responded to a transformer wire on fire near the intersection of 8th and Walnut Street at about 6:30 p.m. December 31, 2019. A PPL worker extinguished the flame. A firefighter on the scene said there is a high tension wire that is in danger of falling.

Hatchet used to vandalize 12 trees in Locust Street Park


The Columbia Borough Police Department needs your help to catch the person who used a hatchet to vandalize 12 trees in Locust Street Park.  The vandalism was discovered when volunteers were cleaning the leaves up at Locust Street Park on 12/21/19.  One of the volunteers found a hatchet at the scene (picture attached).
