DA and police issue statement on Field of Screams

The Lancaster County District Attorney's Office and West Hempfield Township police have released a statement about social media posts regarding the popular horror attraction Field of Screams in Mountville.

The social media posts from volunteers at the attraction range from claims of sexual assault and harassment by other volunteers and customers to claims of volunteers being forced to work long hours.

Here is the full statement from the district attorney and police:

"This following statement is on behalf of the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office and West Hempfield Township Police Department regarding social media discussions of Field of Screams in Mountville.

"Law enforcement officials are aware of the various social media postings and will take the appropriate action on reports they receive from individuals who believe they are either a victim of a crime or have information about a crime.

"Accordingly, as is true with any complaint of suspected criminal activity, we encourage individuals to contact their local police department with specific information.

"It goes against working procedure to discuss pending investigations or the existence of investigations out of fairness to all involved - to include victims - and so to preserve the integrity of our work.

"Going forward, we will release additional information as deemed appropriate.

"Information can be provided to West Hempfield Township police at 717-285-5191 or the District Attorney's Office at 717-299-8100."
