Jenna Geesey

The Columbia School Board voted unanimously to appoint Jenna Geesey to fill a vacancy at a special meeting Wednesday night. Geesey was not present. She interviewed for the position before the board at a special meeting on January 18.

Wish Ms. Geesey good luck on her appointment to the school board.Use wise judgement in your decisions. As a former public official, not every vote will be easy, but keep in mind the people you are serving.

Very good comment. I agree wholeheartedly.

Thanks Cole and the Columbia Spy, and Columbia News and views on keeping us informed about the school situation. Since we have very limited news coverage, I am willing to bet many residents do not know of what is happening. Keep up the good work.

To Jenna:
Please continue to be your own person. You are wise enough to distinguish real from phony.
Try not to be influenced by some who would attempt to control you.
It is refreshing to see someone your age who is willing to serve.
Thank you for taking on the challenge.
Keep searching for truth which is often elusive!

Certain members of the board refer to The Columbia Spy as a rag or a trash site because they are fearful of the truth and try to diminish comments that are heartfelt but signed anonymously due to lack of trust and fear of retribution.
The Spy and Columbia News and Reviews are our only uncensored and truthful sources of the news.
Thank you Cole Umber and Brian Long for your energy and efforts to inform us in a professional and truthful way.

A 23 year old is qualified. Give me a break. Plus she went to school with current & prior school board members children. She will side with the DOO...just watch & see.

Best wishes and please listen to the taxpayers.

This seems to be an unfair comment at this point!

Maybe Hollister should see that the comments on these sights are overwhelmingly against the agreement/Strickler and that there a appears to be a growing movement to see both leave Columbia. What are we not being told? What are we missing? Should we follow the money?

At least Ms.Geesey is willing to serve. When I attended CHS, I had classmates that had parents and relatives who served on the school board. Hope she will be fair in all her decisions. Good luck,Jenna

Does our school board have any real power or did we give total control to Elanco?

Why is the 2nd poorest district in the county writing checks to Elanco?

If the so called grant money is not coming , what does Elanco get out of this?

Can we regain local control?

It always seems that when you give up control that you lose !!!!

The ELANCO contract or agreement will be coming up for renewal within the next few months. If you are against the renewal, your opinion must reach those that will vote on it. Attend meetings and sign up to speak during the citizen comment section. Write a prepared statement if needed to speak publicly. If you don't want to be stuck with it next school year then let your voice be heard soon.

Lots of complaining on this site but no one willing to step up like Ms. Geesey is. Every one around us has grown up in this town. Knowing people does not disqualify people from making the right choices.

Anonymous said...

Very true. This happened the 1st time without our knowledge or input. We must let the board members know our feelings before it is renewed.

There SHALL not be an empty seat at the next few meetings. If you truly care please attend. Your children, senior citizens, and you deserve better. See you there and perhaps a drink at a local establishment after the meeting.

Wrong, someone else WAS willing and DID step up and was strategically blocked.

if the agreement is ended , the drinks are on me!!

No one answered my question. Does the state know about this issue here with the DOO. I keep hearing it's needs thrown out, DOO needs to go. Does the state know about this & is it being investigated? If not how do we make it happen? Please assist or is this site just about blowing off steam?

According to the powers-that-be, the whole process has been vetted and found to be above board. Believe it if you wish.

Is it up to this website to go beyond reporting the story? Are they expected to solve the problem that they are reporting on? If they report on a murder, would readers expect that they would work as police detectives to solve the case? If residents are outraged by this situation, it's up to them to contact representatives and show up at school board meetings. How many residents would be aware of the ELANCO "back story" had it not been reported on Columbia Spy and Columbia News and Views? LNP is certainly not reporting any view other than the Director of Operations. Ignorance is bliss. Root of ignorance is ignore and that's what many residents do, ignore.

If the deal was approved, I would think the state would have sent a letter approving it. If they did, publish it. If not, could explain why the funds have not arrived.

Time for a merger!

Someone out there that knows will have to correct me if this is not the case: The bill or law was approved, but the budget did not contain the funding for the grant money to support the bill.

Do you really think he cares what we the taxpayers think, it was a deal that benefited Elanco money wise, and Tom who for years has tried to get a job, he wanted to be Superintendent, which he would have to resign for a year to get it, but backed out because some school board members new he didn't have the proper papers. This came from teachers in the Union and past teachers I spoke with. Just saying, Talk to the teachers, and past.

Checking on the net, seemsthat Pa. senate bill 1332, Auments' bill was not voted on and has been in Appropriations since summer.

Joe Lintner said...

That appears to be the case. According to:

http://www.palegis.us/bills/?q=2015/0/N/SB1332

The last action posted is:

Re-referred to APPROPRIATIONS, June 28, 2016

I think the board thought the money was approved and be released. A certain individual convinced the group everything was in order, created his job and now we the taxpayers are footing the bill. Should have waited till money was in hand. In appropriations since June 28,2016, 7 months.
