Multiple vehicle accident closes Route 30 near 441

A four-vehicle accident closed the eastbound lane of Route 30 just past the Route 441 overpass at about 2:30 this afternoon. Three people were taken from the scene by ambulance. Two of the vehicles, a Honda minivan and a Ford sedan, sustained severe damage and appeared to have been totaled. The female driver of the Ford and the female driver of the Honda were transported by ambulance, as was a young boy who was a passenger in the minivan. A Honda sedan sustained minor damage, and the driver appeared to be uninjured. Eastbound traffic was diverted at the Columbia exit near the Visitors Center.

I truly hope it wasn't because someone was on their phone. It amazes me how many people I see on a daily basis with their heads down looking at their phone while driving and then they are swerving back and forth and slamming on their brakes because they aren't paying attention. It's truly ridiculous and nothing on that phone is as important as a life. Just pull over or use it before you start driving. Prayers that everyone involved is safe!
