A new parking lot is being installed at 401 Locust Street as part of a makeover that includes newly constructed planters on either side of the lot entrance. The old parking lot was being torn up this afternoon in preparation for repaving. Sources tell the

CHI St. Joseph Children's Health facility will be moving into the adjacent office building in the near future. The building and lot are owned by Cimarron Investments.

Yeah thanks for buying the Locust Heights Pool & fixing it up so the kids have something to do. Wait I meant make a quick buck.
As mentioned more times than need be.........sinking a ton of money into the pool for it not to sustain itself makes absolutely no sense whatsoever............it is not the responsibility of a local business owner to provide for the kids......which by the way and for your information Cimmaron has........they've provided numerous donations for many local organizations including the schools and various sports teams.......they have supported both financially and in giving of their time.......all of which directly benefits the kids year round and not just for a few months in the year. While the pool provided many of us great memories, like many other things, costs outweighed it's feasibility.............Escalating costs and very poor attendance.......meaning not enough income coming in for the expenses to operate properly equals a losing situation. Be happy this group does care about the revitalization of this town and has proven it over and over again........the new tenant coming to this building shows that yet again. A good business person sees a need and can invest more wisely............and use the profits to continue the revitalization that has been ongoing.......again Cimmaron has proven this time and time again! Quit being such a hater.........you don't have to like what this group does but you need to get your facts straight before you condemn them............would you rather they did nothing in this town so that the buildings they've painstakingly refurbished sit and rot away as well??? Or would you just bitch about that as well???
Why are you condemning a project that is benefitting this town?? Repeatedly the pool has been discussed to death and obviously you do not have your facts straight.........the immense cost of repairs needed to get the pool even operational made no sense since it would never generate the income needed to keep it afloat. That's business plain and simple.........sure, it provided many of us great memories, but realistically keeping it made no sense. If you had the funds, would you invest in something that was a losing cause? Most likely not........and if you did, you'd be hard pressed to keep it going forever unless you had endless buckets of money to waste. And just to set you straight, Cimmaron has donated in numerous ways to this community, both financially and of their time, to many organizations in this town including the schools and various sports teams which directly benefit all of our kids. Before you condemn someone you need to get your facts straight............would you rather they not do anything to help revitalize this town? If not, their would be housing lost, businesses lost, much needed services not brought to our town and vacate buildings rotting away into nothing. Haters always have something bad to say........if you've got nothing good to say, then say nothing at all. What are you doing to help revitalize the town??

I am confused, I thought the ground that Locust Heights pool sat on was bought by Saint John's Herr Estate.
Cole, thanks for showing another great project in the works. Thanks also to Cimmaron. I see their name on several very nice buildings. As far as the pool goes, they had NO obligation to keep that a pool. Twin Oaks old pool ground is for sale now, obviously no one will be building a pool there. again.
I keep hearing people say that the kids in Columbia don't have any place to go and nothing to do. When we were kids, no one entertained us. If we wanted to go rollerskating, a parent had to drive us to the rink. Same for the movies and swimming. If no one could take us, we just didn't go. It wasn't the townships responsibility to build us an entertainment center. The township didn't give birth to us, nor did people buying land for development.
