Here we go again another tax increase that boro residents can ill afford. When will the leaders of this town realize you can't move this town forward until you address this fiasco. The leaders in this town need to proposition the state & let them know the boro can no longer afford its own school district.A $20+ million budget to graduate 65 kids. Terribly inefficient.

Leaders of this town? You mean that School Board? They are NOT leaders, they are rapists. Look up the definition....they are RAPISTS!!!! "Abusive or improper treatment: VIOLATION. To pillage or plunder." Think that's a strong enough word for them? If you have a stronger one I would most likely agree.

And an adjective for their actions? Rapacious = 1. "Taking by force: PLUNDERING. 2.Ravenous: greedy. 3. RAPTORIAL"

Leaders of the town is school board, boro council, & mayor. There is a process that we can go through to petition the state to have our school district absorbed by a neighnoring school district. This is the only answer to our school tax burden. These leaders should start by meeting with their local representative (Hickernell) & have him help them through this process.
There is nobody to point the finger at at the school district for doing wrong. The out of control school taxes in Columbia is the result of economics (too few taxpayers for a schools needs)
This of course is the state of Pa in general 500 school districts in one state. Shame on Pa legislators for not doing something about this. The problem is not funding schools, its inefficiencies in the system.

Merge the school districts? But then we'll lose "local control" (aka, we need our SPORTS, SPORTS, SPORTS!!!!).

67 counties. We don't need more than 67 school districts.
