Family First Health to offer pre-registration and assistance


Family First Health is offering three days, prior to their opening on October 11, for people to stop by the health center and either pre-register for an appointment (and fill out necessary paperwork) OR have assistance signing up for Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP or the Health Insurance Marketplace. Their eligibility specialists will be on-site to provide one-on-one assistance.

More on the investigation?

Late this morning, Columbia Spy caught up with the Special Services Unit on the 500 block of Union Street.  The two officers shown below would not say if they were there in relation to this morning's shooting on the 200 block of Locust Street, but their vehicle was at the shooting scene for several hours earlier today.




St. Paul's remembers 9/11

St. Paul's Lutheran Church held a 9/11 remembrance ceremony in Locust Street Park this morning. Pastor Skip Nizinski led the 15th anniversary service, which was attended by about 50 people from the community.




























Columbia Police give info on shooting

From a press release provided by the Columbia Borough Police Department:

On 9-11-16 at approximately 0303 hours, Columbia Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Locust Street in Columbia for a report of shots being fired.  Upon arrival, responding officers learned that a large fight occurred in the area involving patrons of the Venues nightclub, which is located at 237 Locust Street.  Witnesses reported multiple shots being fired.  Officers from multiple jurisdictions responded to assist.  No shooting victims were located at the scene.

As Police were conducting their investigation, information was obtained that two shooting victims were being treated at area hospitals for gunshot wounds suffered as the result of the fight that occurred in the 200 block of Locust Street in Columbia.  The shooting victims are receiving treatment at this time.  No information concerning their respective identities or conditions will be released at this time.
