Something new has been added

This support structure was installed at our water company recently - possibly the beginning of another stage of construction there.

Now we know where they are

A window sign was recently installed at Columbia Crossing, directing the way to the restrooms.

Work continues on Ironville Pike

Road work continued this afternoon on the 1000 block of Ironville Pike, causing traffic detours and delays.

News 8 back on the bridge

A News 8 truck sat along the plaza on the Columbia side of the Veterans Memorial Bridge today, most likely to continue reporting on the mayfly situation.

Fixing up so it doesn't fall down

Belfor Restorations was back again today to continue shoring up the property at 208-210 Locust Street.  As recently as last Saturday it was thought that the front wall of the building was in danger of collapse, and emergency personnel and structural engineers were called to the scene to make an evaluation. Belfor worked that evening to construct bracing inside the building to support the front wall.

Bring a flashlight - Bridge lights will be off

Due to the infestation of mayflies on the Veterans Memorial Bridge and the problems associated with them, the Borough of Columbia, Wrightsville Borough and West Hempfield Township have agreed to turn off  the lights on the bridge until further notice. Please make sure to  bring a flashlight when  traveling the bridge on foot.   Please travel slowly by vehicle.
