PUC lets Columbia Water Co. raise rates, but not as much as requested

Columbia Water Company will see a revenue increase of 12.4 percent under rate hikes approved Thursday by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission.

That's about two-thirds of the 17.8 percent increase the company requested.

Any rate hike is too much. We buy drinking water, so add that to our bill. I have a phobia about drinking Columbia water, as do many others. We're paying dearly for the copper trim, landscaping, flagpoles, and lightning, at the water company's upgraded building. Between the water bill and the taxes, enough already!
