I'll ask again, do we have a working Codes Department?
We sure do! They are to busy picking on people in the historic district. Maybe they need to open their eyes to other areas!
The columbia spy, is also the columbia codes department
We thank you we know the code workers are not doing there job and what about the quick ticket sure alot of places that could use them
The codes department is responsive not proactive you just need to figure which higher ups they respond to and call one of those individuals directly
Ya know, not everyone has all the free time in the world that some on these groups apparently have. They cleaned out a house on a weekend for trash to pick up Tuesday? Calm down. If the trash is there for several days, yeah, then there's a problem. But seriously - having a fit 5 minutes after it was put out? And all you wishing for more code enforcement? Enough with the nanny gov't.
And you know this for a fact? Seems to me the problems are town wide, including the Historic District.
First off its more than one address with the trash accumulating.
Second, it is apparent codes does not follow thru with their duties.
As a taxpayer I expect results.

This trash site is actually IN the historic district.
What we expect is for the people that we pay to enforce the codes, to actually enforce the codes.
and you know the codes dept is not doing their jobs - HOW????? maybe you need to understand how a "quick ticket" works. THIS code dept is cleaning up and shutting down!!!! there is the legal route they must follow. maybe you should attend a Borough Council meeting and hear for yourself just WHAT the Code Dept is accomplishing. Look around town, it's apparent they are condemning structures that SHOULD have been condemned years ago. it can't all happen in a week or a month.
Of course, just listen to them. They'll tell you.
Quick tickets offer no due process and therfore are unconstitutional.
Do you know how trash removal works in New York City? Maybe you should research this before you make a comment that you know nothing about.

According to borough ordinance:
§ 181-20 Accumulation of refuse.
[Added 9-12-2016 by Ord. No. 870]
A. No person shall throw, place, deposit or cause or permit the dumping, depositing, placing, throwing or leaving of litter or other refuse on any sidewalk, street, alley or other public place, or upon any private property, except in proper receptacles for collection.
F. Persons owning, renting and/or occupying property in the Borough shall keep the sidewalks in the front, rear and side(s) of their premises broom clean and free of litter and refuse. No person shall sweep or deposit litter or refuse into any gutter, street, alley or public place within the Borough from any building, property, or public or private sidewalk or driveway.
H. No empty boxes, barrels, appliances, furniture, household fixtures, commercial fixtures or any other refuse of any kind shall be left upon any pavement, sidewalk, street or alley within the Borough except in accordance the provisions of this chapter.
Maybe the homeowner did get a ticket. I'm about 100% sure they don't put quick tickets on the trash or it would go with the items to the dump. Maybe if the mattress had a windshield wiper!
Very impressed late Thursday after the parade, the trash is still laying.
Maybe codes us picking it up.
