McGinness property to be discussed at special meeting
Columbia Borough Council will hold a special meeting to determine whether to move forward with acquiring real estate pursuant to an Agreement of Sale executed by and between the Borough and Peggy A. Knoll and James G. McGinness, Trustees, on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers of the Municipal Building, 308 Locust Street, Columbia.

There won't be any storage units on the second floor.
The matter will be discussed further at this week's meeting of the Zoning Hearing Board on Wednesday, July 26, at 7 p.m.

Columbia mourns loss of Mary Loreto
Mary Juliette (Nobile) Loreto, 91, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife the late Arthur A. Loreto, Sr. who preceded her in death in 1984. A proud lifelong Columbia resident, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Carmella Russo Nobile.

He got me on the pay phone with his boss as WHEX (Columbia, PA), a daytime station that literally shut down at night. He asked me my name and I said "Douglas Kruhoeffer." There was a long pause. "You don't understand. Our DJs are so stupid they'll never be able to say your name. They can't even say their own names. If you want to get $25 a week, you'll have to change it." So Paul Douglas was born. I was a senior in high school and I was hooked.
