What I saw recently

Some recent odds and ends from around town . . .

Civil War figurines at Fifth and Cherry

Open window and nobody home on Second Street

Abandoned Big Chiller cups on the steps of the old United Telephone building

More leftover containers - this time at River Park.
Interestingly enough, there's a trash can right at the top of the steps (seen in this photo).
Maybe the former owners of these cans didn't want to throw away the metal, and this is their idea of recycling.

Back in the 60s, this was the Hi-fi Record Shop.

A recently painted hydrant at the bottom of Fifth Street

Two guys working atop a train car

Shadows and reflections

 Baby snake smashed flat

 Sludge down by the shore.
Anyone still think the Susquehanna is not a sick river?

What I thought was the mouldering pelvic bone of a hobbit turned out to be some sort of plant structure that someone tore out.

Chalk outline at a murder scene?
But the victim must have disappeared before the outline was completed.

No way this will pass a code inspection.  Pictured are steps leading from the sidewalk to a basement on Walnut Street.  They're covered by a piece of corrugated metal roofing (the white area on the upper left).  There's also an old piece of wood along the side (upper right) as well as some plastic sheeting.  Maybe the residents are having a problem with rainwater seeping into their basement, but this is not the proper way to fix it.

QRS has moved.

On the waterfront

 Chiques Challenge participants

A boater took cover under the bridge during a recent downpour.

Another boater didn't.  He decided to put his boat in during the deluge.

A flotilla of canoes (and kayaks) sailed downstream last Saturday morning.
I think the participants were members of a boy scout troop.

And there they go!

Flower power

Morning glories in all their glory

 Sagging sunflower

 Pretty petunias

White morning glory

Search called off, police ask for help

The hunt for seven-month-old Hamza Ali was recently called off.  Police have asked for the public's help in locating the infant.

Following are a few photos of the recent search operation.

Signs of the times

 At the Catholic War Vets

 SAINTS ONLY
(Or is it AINTS ONLY . . . ?)
(Seen at Prudhomme's)

 A reminder from the Hambones

 Buddhist temple upgrade

Speaking of Buddhism, there's an "OM" missing from the high school sign.
(And yes, that word is used in the Hindu religion, also.)
Of course, there could be a guy named "Octavius Maximus" who took the letters for his bragging wall.
(Hmmm . . . I see there's a "C" and a "U" left.)

This coming Friday is the last day for this program.

Huh?

Last but not least, there are a number of dog owners in town who need to read and heed this sign.

On the road again

Well, come on now - really!

Looks like Dad is packing heat.  I've heard of "riding shotgun," but this takes it to another level.

Way up high in the sky

 There's that confounded balloon again!
I keep seeing it around (or should I say "over") the town.
I'm pretty sure it's from AE Balloon Flights.

Red-tailed hawk hanging out above the railroad tracks.

I saw several unusual planes flying over lately.  I wonder if they were heading to the Lititz Air Show this past weekend.

This exciting group measures an impressive 114"X54" and serves as the center piece and anchor of the second half of his "journey with Kaballah" exhibit. If you saw the first half, you must return to see this group, if you haven't see this show, you must visit before it is to late! Exhibit continues through September 21, 2013.
This exhibit is FREE and open to the public. During this Friday's Artist Reception (5-9pm) light refreshments will be served. Come meet the artist and feel free to discuss Scott's works with him. The wisdom of Kaballah is not a belief or religion, it is a combination of science, faith and the wisdom of life.
