Cats . . .

This (former?) feral may have been adopted. He's looking better these days.

But there's still more on the loose. The Columbia Animal Shelter estimates 1,000 in Columbia alone.

How many will there be next year?

Ferals make more ferals, but people who let their unfixed pets run free are part of the problem, too.

This obviously "unfixed" male could be the progenitor of many feral offspring.

A close-up of one still hanging about.

Clydesdales . . .

The Budweiser Clydesdales were at Flinchbaugh's Orchard and Farm Market this past week and paraded through Wrightsville on Friday.

Diversion . . .
Not Jason Momoa but an "aquaman" of sorts, nonetheless. He was part of a crew installing a "diversion" near Columbia River Park as part of a water intake project for the Columbia Water Company.

Here's the plan.

Still no drones at the airfield, but there was a herd of deer eating the crops. Here's one.

Bon appetit!

Columbia Borough school board approves 2022-23 budget at meeting

When: School board meeting, June 16.

What happened: The board approved a $31.3 million budget for the 2022-23 school year without any changes to the district's property tax rate.

Funding: The district's property tax will remain at 26.46 mills, or $26.46 per $1,000 of property value. The board expects to receive roughly $11.9 million from local property taxes. Of the remaining funds, the district expects to receive $15.4 million from the state and $3.5 million from the federal government. The amount of state funding the district receives is subject to change because the state has not yet finalized the fiscal year 2022-23 budget.
