Cost for developing McGinness tech site will be more than $10M, Columbia council told

The borough must spend a little more than $10.5 million to develop the McGinness Innovation Park, said Richard Jackson, vice president with consultant ELA Group. Council members for the first time heard specific dollar amounts on a grant/loan application the borough will file to turn the former airport into a technology site.

Details: Columbia hopes to receive about $9 million from the state program. The borough will apply for a grant of about $3.6 million and a loan for some $5.4 million from the state's Business in Our Sites program, which helps municipalities redevelop industrial sites.

1 injured in Route 30 accident; westbound lanes reopen following a 3-vehicle crash Friday

At least one person was transported to a hospital after a three-vehicle crash on Route 30 on Friday evening, a dispatch supervisor said.

The westbound lanes between the exits for Columbia and Wrightsville reopened shortly after 6 p.m., two hours after the crash, a supervisor with Lancaster County-Wide Communications said.

The injured person's condition was not immediately clear.

Renowned horologist joins National Watch and Clock Collectors in Columbia

The National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors has a new Executive Director who comes with an international reputation as a horologist and horology educator.

Rory McEvoy formerly worked at as Curator of Horology at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, England and has handled some of the world's most important horological artifacts. He joins us on Thursday's Smart Talk.
