Firefighters make 2nd trip to the same location for call involving the same vehicle


  This evening at 7:45, firefighters made a second trip to the same location for a call involving the same vehicle that was on fire this afternoon. Several police officers were also present on the scene on the 500 block of Chestnut Street and were interviewing residents.  The vehicle is located in a driveway at the rear of the property, near Avenue G.

Units respond to vehicle fire in driveway

 


Shortly before 3 o'clock this afternoon, personnel from the Columbia Borough Fire Department and Columbia Borough Police responded to a vehicle fire in a driveway just off Avenue G, near 6th Street. The fire caused notable damage to the rear passenger side door but was quickly brought under control.

The company's name is Pittman.

They were most likely contracted by PPL to trim limbs, etc. away from electrical wires.

Here's our borough Superfund site along Front Street.

It's now used as the borough garage.

Back in the 70s, this site on 16th Street was the offices and plant for Wilton Brass.
