I see a lot of these train cars passing though town.
They're labeled LIQUEFIED PETROLEUM GAS. They're also labeled NON ODORIZED. I can only speculate why the gas would be NON ODORIZED (as in NON DETECTABLE?)
Meanwhile on Avenue H: Either one of the ladies couldn't get in through the LADIES ENTRANCE, or the broken window is a newly installed GENTLEMEN'S ENTRANCE.

I realize these things take time, but someone might want to get around to fixing the back of the building soon.

Over the weekend, a lot of out-of-town walkers passed through town.
Here's what some of them saw along Front Street: blocks of concrete that have been lying there, seemingly forever, where the slab was cut to allow for installation of a utility pole guy wire. Very shoddy.

So, who put their mirror in the sidewalk trash can? This presents a potential safety hazard.
Incredibly, there are still several phone books lying on doorsteps around town.
I guess this is cool looking, but without a hood, is it street legal?
Oh well, at least this cardinal was content to just sit and sing.

LP Gas is typically odorless until it is at a bulk storage facility. A substance, normally Mercaptan, is added to give it the odor associated with LP gas. A large number of "hazardous materials" come through town every day. You can find out what they are by their placard numbers here.

Depends on destination of LPG. If going for industrial use (propellant in arerosol cans) it is non odorized.
Destination for home use the railcars are currently odorized.
Natural gas in large transmission pipelines is also not odorized. Mercaptan is added when gas enters the distribution pipeline.

My guess would be some kids thought they'd do some damage to all those signs on Barber St. tsk.tsk. and the industrial site by the river always looks like holy hell....they really should clean it up! I saw those chunks of cement too...wouldn't PPL have to remove them if they broke it up???? You see this kind of stuff all the time-PPL and UGI come into town do shoddy work and leave looking worse than it was!
Exactly right. Whoever makes the mess should clean it up.
About those signs : They've been like that for weeks, if not months.
As for Barber St- as you can see , they have painted NO Parking areas more than once in that area ; and it has been mostly ignored by residents looking to park cars close to their homes, or working on someone's car, or too lazy to pull into a parking spot to go into a store. And then you have people cutting through the parking lot there -and this is how most of these signs have been damaged.And big trucks making deliveries cannot make the left turn to pull out at the top so they swing around where the signs are also. I am glad that I have a drveway to park because cars zip up the street at ungodly speeds and there are close shaves here quite a bit- not to mention the cars that zip down the one way street and cars coming up have to pull in so they dont get clipped. These are exciting times. Did you see the speed limit sign on the street also?? This is another joke. Oh well.... Great pictures- have you seen the progress being done at The Cycle Den?? It is coming along nicely.
about the skids on that property, it is a business. if you are so worried about it clean it up yourself.

Not completely true. Some major gas natural gas transmission lines are in fact odorized before distribution points.
What business is it? So by suggesting that the complainer clean it up, you are suggesting that it is trash? As Cole stated, at the very least it is a fire hazard and we do have code standards. Businesses don't get a free pass to let their property look like crap!
I really do not understand WHY the Boro continues to allow so much trash, rubbish and junk at some of these rental properties. Some of these "problem" rentals need to be MADE to come into compliance or SHUT EM DOWN.

i agree...there are MORE than a handful that have continuously, and for years been an eyesore and yes to make matters worse some of them ARE ON LOCUST STREET... i don't understand. just like i don't understand why the prop on the corner of 2nd and locust STILLL have plywood covering the door....cmon get real this has been for what 10 or 15 years...and the codes can't do anyhting? wow. unbelieveable.

Some of these land lords are friends of some borough high ups! They take care of their own, trust me! So much behind the the 8 ball in this town!!
this has got to stop. council where r u??? y r u not overseeing this crazy stuff?? these repeat offenders and offenders who get away with issues MUST be put to rest. it is NOT fair to all the hardworking taxpaying homeowners. shame on ALL u councilors for not doing the right thing and standing up for what the majority of the taxpayers want.
