This exhibit has a twist and will be held as a benefit exhibit for the local food bank. The Columbia Food Bank located at Saint Paul Episcopal Church - in the Mary Elizabeth Bair Parish Center at 340 Locust Street, Columbia.
"The Columbia Food Bank has been providing food and other relevant assistance to clients as !an outreach of the church for approximately twenty five years. The food banks success is due to donations of food and finance from the community as well as support from it's dedicated volunteers." states the Director Danielle Peters. In 2012 the Columbia Food Bank provided 51,489 meals to approximately 1,052 households in the Columbia/Mountville area. The statistics speak
for themselves - it indicates that this food bank is needed now, more than ever before. Peters states "No man, woman or child should have to go to bed hungry; no stranger nor neighbor Yet, these figures prove that many would, if not for the assistance provided by us..." Now the twist... Starting on Friday (5-9pm) and continuing through October 19, we will transform our Labyrinth Gallery into a full fledged "artist studio" complete with blank canvases, acrylic paints, artist's palettes and brushes. The perfect setting for the creations of U.B. Artist's work.
The next twist is the artist, "U.B. Artist." You see, U.B. Artist is not an individual artist but an acronym (you be the artist) for everyone that visits us during this benefit "exhibit" and places their brush stroke to canvas. Each individual brush stroke will culminate in a completed "U.B. Artist masterpiece" by close of business on October 19th. We encourage you to visit the Gallery often during normal business hours to add a brush stroke or see "U.B.'s" progress!
The Final twist... The Gallery is donating all supplies (canvases, paints, palettes and brushes) to help U.B. Artist complete the "masterpieces". On our Fourth Friday event in October (October 25) all of U.B. Artist's canvases will be on display and offered up for sale during a Silent Auction held between 5-9pm (minimum bids will be applied to each piece). ALL proceeds from the Silent Auction will go directly to the benefit of the Columbia Food Bank.
WE ENCOURAGE YOU BE GENEROUS FOR THIS WORTHY CAUSE AND ORGANIZATION!

The Columbia Borough School District Board of School Directors has announced that the district's comprehensive plan will be placed on public display on its website beginning Sept. 9.
Columbia is a Phase 2 district. The Pennsylvania Department of Education requires that all Phase 2 districts post their comprehensive plans for a 30-day public inspection period.
