Woman struck by vehicle while crossing street Wednesday afternoon

A woman was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street at Lancaster Avenue and Cherry Street at about 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene at the intersection  The extent of the woman's injuries was not immediately available.

Police closed the block of Lancaster Avenue between Locust Street and Cherry Street during the incident. 

A black GMC Acadia SUV was seen stopped in the crosswalk at the intersection, with its driver's door open.

East Donegal man charged in Columbia hit & run

NATHAN WILLISON | LNP Staff Writer An East Donegal Township man is facing criminal charges after police say he struck a 13-year-old with his truck and fled the scene last month.  Derek Scott Mohr, 28, is charged with causing an accident involving death or injury without a license, failing to stop to render aid, driving at an unsafe speed and related charges.  Mohr had been driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado through Chestnut Street in Columbia around 8 p.m. March 20 when he struck a 13-year-old boy riding a motorized scooter and continued driving, according to charging documents filed by police.  When police arrived, they found the boy with a broken leg and a cut to his forehead. Columbia Borough Manager Jack Brommer Announces Resignation

Jack Brommer [Columbia Spy file photo] Jack Brommer, who has spent nearly three decades serving Columbia Borough in various roles, has submitted his resignation as borough manager, effective November 13, 2026, according to a letter posted on The Columbia Chronicle . So far, the reason for his resignation has not been made public. Council will likely vote on the issue at its next meeting on September 22, 2026. Resignation letter In September 2025, as part of a planned succession, Brommer took on the role of interim borough manager while continuing to serve as police chief — a dual role he maintained through April 2026.
