Police arrest five after shots fired incident Friday afternoon

From witness reports and on-scene reporting:

Reportedly, an argument among several males led to shots being fired near 4th and Union Streets. (Witnesses reported hearing five or six shots.) Four males then ran into an apartment that police identified as 221 South 4th Street. Police from several departments, sheriffs, and a K9 unit responded to the scene, surrounded the building, and ordered the suspects to surrender. At about the same time, a female was taken into custody across the street. After about 30 minutes, the males left the building one-by-one over the course of 15 or 20 minutes, until all four were taken into custody.

Afterwards, police removed an infant from the building. The infant appeared to be unharmed.

Columbia Borough schools were reported to be on lockdown during the incident.

More details will be posted as they become available.
