Park School letter says staff will call police and agency if students stay after dismissal


Columbia Spy recently received a copy of the letter shown above, dated November 25, 2019, which was apparently sent by the Park Elementary School principal to "Parent/Caregiver" of children attending there. The letter states that if any children remain at the school after 3:05 p.m., school staff will contact the Columbia Borough Police Department and the Lancaster County Children and Youth Social Service Agency.

Hearing Notice

Notice is hereby given that the Ordinance summarized below will be considered by Borough Council of the Borough of Columbia for adoption following a zoning hearing pursuant to the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code to be held at a special meeting of Council on Monday, December 16, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. in Columbia Borough School District’s Administration Building located at 200 North Fifth Street, Columbia, Pennsylvania: An Ordinance to repeal the Airport District Overlay, including deletion of the Airport Hazard Area Map and height limitations associated with the Airport Overlay District; to include a provision for space between rooftop solar panels; to amend the official zoning map of the Borough of Columbia to designate certain areas presently designated High Density Residential (HDR), Medium Density Residential Business (MDRB), and Riverfront Commercial (RC) to Downtown Commercial (DC); to change the area known as the Linden Street Gateway from Low Density Residential (LDR) to Downtown Commercial (DC) District; to change 301?325 North Seventh Street from Medium Density Residential (MDR) to Institutional/?Residential (INSR) District; to change Cloverton Drive west of Kinderhook Road and Hilmar Circle from Rural Residential (RR) to Medium Density Residential (MDR) District; to change the 1200 block of Locust Street from Rural Residential (RR) to Institutional/?Residential (INSR) District; to change 530 South Fourteenth Street from Low Density Residential (LDR) to Highway Commercial (HC) District; to change the zoning of certain parcels on the 1100 block of Manor Street as well as 740 South Twelfth Street from Medium Density Residential (MDR) to Light Business (LB) District; to change 700, 704, and 706 Manor Street from High Density Residential (HDR) to Light Business (LB) District; to change the properties located at 3 Shawnee Avenue, 622 Union Street, and 600 Avenue N from High Density Residential (HDR) to Highway Commercial (HC) District; to change 400 Union Street from High Density Residential (HDR) to High Density Residential – Multi-Unit (HDRM) District; providing for the repeal of inconsistent ordinances; providing for the severability of the ordinance; and providing that the ordinance shall take effect in accordance with Pennsylvania law. A complete copy of the Ordinance may be inspected at the Municipal Building, 308 Locust Street, Columbia, PA during regular business hours and the Lancaster Law Library, located at 50 North Duke Street, Lancaster, Pennsylvania during regular business hours.

Columbia Borough 2020 Budget to be considered for adoption at Dec. 10 Council Meeting

LEGAL NOTICE
Notice is hereby given that the Borough Council of the Borough of Columbia, at a meeting to be held on December 10, 2019, at 7:00pm in Council Chambers of the Borough Municipal Building located at 308 Locust Street, Columbia, will consider for adoption Resolution No. 2019-21 adopting the budget for the Borough of Columbia for the year 2020.

Any person with a disability wishing to attend the meeting may contact the Borough Office at 717-684-2467 for necessary accommodations. 

Notice is further given that the proposed budget for the year 2020 referenced above is available for public inspection at the Municipal Building, 308 Locust Street, Columbia, Pennsylvania. Business office hours are 8am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday, except holidays.
