Hobie Crystle to speak at Columbia Town Hall this Saturday, August 3

Hobie Crystle

Lancaster Stands Up is proud to be hosting town halls with community members about the future of our criminal justice system. As a community, we have a choice that we’ve never had before. We can choose the way things have always been and continue to sentence our sick neighbors. Or, we can choose courage, and reimagine a criminal justice system that upholds our values and offers a helping hand, not a prison cell. We’ll be hearing from community members about their experiences in the criminal justice system, from everyday people to business owners to families of folks impacted by our outdated and punitive system. We have invited Hobie Crystle to speak about his vision for a criminal justice system that heals us.

Community takes a step toward healing after recent tragedy

Over 50 people came together Tuesday night at North 3rd and Walnut where 19-year-old Nick Mills died the night before. Pastor Angelo Rodriguez of Itlm Faith Community Church, accompanied by Pastor Dave Powers of Columbia Presbyterian, led the group in song and prayer to help heal and unify the community. Unfortunately, no borough officials attended.
