This is absolutely retarded. Didn't move my spare car because I was on vacation for a week only to come home to it being impounded? This is a hypothetical scenario that is likely to happen.

I forgot to mention the real problem is the 4 families living in one appartment and owning 6 cars. This isn't an exaggeration this is reality in Columbia.

There is a lot of people with spare cars that don't move for days that otherwise take up parking in front of other people's houses. Also agree with you on tenants with more cars than the should have per apartment. A single building apartment with multiple units should have a parking lot and require tenants to use it. Not fair to home owners in area to not have parking when they are paying taxes and having to maintain sidewalks to not have a parking space.

yep. i agree. there should be a limit.
i also believe that as a HOMEOWNER you are RESPONSIBLE FOR THE GUTTER AREA IN FRONT OF YOUR HOUSE....therefore, i truly think that each and every home occupied taxpayers house SHOULD HAVE 1 PARKING SPACE FOR THAT ADDRESS ONLY IN FRONT OF SAID HOUSE. it only makes sense. todays kids feel entitiled, are lazy and have NO respect for the elderly, the critically sick, anyone with disabilities. its a real sin.

rental properties that have more than 1 unit should have to put off street parking in.

complaining about the lack of parking, then complaining about attempting to solve the parking problem is counter intuitive my dear Columbians.

Police won't do anything to delivery trucks , a truck was over the crosswalk and out into the intersection , no fine just move the truck , it must be to much paper work , will the # 1 cop do anything, no he parks at a meter and don't put any money in it and the enforcement won't ticket it . DO AS I SAY NOT AS I DO , COLUMBIA PRIDE Starts here.

If they want to help the parking situation - stop running the stupid street sweeper every week. Then you wouldn't have the same amount of cars squeezing into fewer spaces.

The 48 hour rule is not doing a single thing to solve parking problem. Moving a car every few days does not reduce the amount of vehicles nor increase the amount of space to park aforementioned vehicles.

Ticketing delivery trucks? You know those costs are just passed down to consumers, don't you? We need a little common sense here.

No if they part with common sense it would be a problem , and any car or truck can make a delivery , whats the difference

i agree. what;s next? requiring all licensed drivers to only own 1 vehicle? IF only people who are able to would put in off street parking, if only everyone who has MORE than 1 car find alternate parking, if only people weren't so ignorant and lazy these days, all it takes is common sense and respect. period. every property SHOULD have the 1 parking space in front of said property be part of the property!

that makes perfect sense. each homeowner is responsible to repair and pay for his curbing area therefore, the parking space in front of each home should BELONG to that property. NO ONE except someone living in that home can park there. more people may want to add off street parking....

Columbia's decision to ban former employee from its property may be 'unconstitutional' [Lancaster Watchdog]

By Columbia Spy -

Chris Vera [Columbia Spy file photo] The following information is excerpted from a December 6, 2025 LNP Watchdog article by LNP | LancasterOnline reporter Jade Campos. Still reeling from an abrupt firing from his role as head of the Columbia Market House in March, Chris Vera was surprised to get a letter in the mail from a Columbia Borough attorney two weeks later telling him he was banned indefinitely from borough property. The letter gave no reason for the ban. Nine months later, Vera, who has served as president of the Columbia Historic Preservation Society for more than a decade and has helped with the borough’s comprehensive plan, is still banned from borough property. He believes the ban includes borough parks, which is part of the reason he moved his annual Albatwitch Day festival, which celebrates the myth of a local cryptid, to Wrightsville. Vera said he’s not sure why the borough went to such lengths to keep him away from public spaces given his termination from the borough s...

East Donegal man charged in Columbia hit & run

NATHAN WILLISON | LNP Staff Writer An East Donegal Township man is facing criminal charges after police say he struck a 13-year-old with his truck and fled the scene last month.  Derek Scott Mohr, 28, is charged with causing an accident involving death or injury without a license, failing to stop to render aid, driving at an unsafe speed and related charges.  Mohr had been driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado through Chestnut Street in Columbia around 8 p.m. March 20 when he struck a 13-year-old boy riding a motorized scooter and continued driving, according to charging documents filed by police.  When police arrived, they found the boy with a broken leg and a cut to his forehead. His scooter was lying nearby, its handlebars completely snapped off.  Another teenager who witnessed what happened described the truck to police and said that the driver made no attempt to stop after striking the boy. Surveillance footage collected from the area shows the truck striking the b...

Mayor Lutz must accept responsibility

By Columbia Spy -
Image
GUEST COMMENTARY [Name withheld by request out of fear of retaliation] For two decades, Leo Lutz has occupied the mayor's office in Columbia, and his supporters are quick to credit him with every positive development in our borough, but leadership is a two-way street. If Mayor Lutz is going to accept praise for Columbia's successes, many of which, frankly, he had little direct involvement in, then he must also be held accountable for our failures. The facts paint a troubling picture. Despite the mayor's repeated assurances that our streets are safe, we've witnessed a disturbing rise in assaults, shootings, and vandalism. His promises have fallen by the wayside: the foot patrol we were promised never materialized, nor did the bike patrol that was supposed to increase our sense of security. Fiscally, the situation is equally dire. Taxes have increased at least twice during Mayor Lutz's tenure, yet the borough now finds itself millions of dollars in debt. This isn...
