Hangin' out
Seen at the former United Telephone Company building
An empty on the shelf
And two more on the step
Now, that's a constructive use for a parking lot (4th & Locust).
Plus, a few plants on the roof
The Confederates have infiltrated . . .
and decided to stay a while.
Cardinal in a tree
Some tats about town . . .
The Addams Family house at 9th & Chestnut is now held together by caution tape.
A visitor to River Park. I think it's some sort of heron.
Cleaning the park on Sunday morning.
Further uptown - another caretaker of the grounds
A former WWII pilot?
Last but not least - THE END
thanks Cole for the great pics!!! very concerned about the Addams Family house at 9th & Chestnut Sts-it's soon back to school and fromthe picture it looks about ready to collapse.....very unsafe looking. is it condemned?
ReplyDeleteMaybe it should be condemned. Some of the wood doesn't look too healthy, and the back wall is questionable.
DeleteAnd you're right to be concerned about kids going back to school. The structure could become an attractive nuisance.
DeleteRegarding the license plate….yes he was. People around town who are familiar with him know he is a great man.
ReplyDeleteAs for the house at 9th & Chestnut Street…..it is a shame to see this house fall into such disrepair. I had an occasion to be in the house back in the 70’s. What a beauty. It had fallen victim to a fire back in the early 80’s but was repaired. Just a darn shame!
I'm told it was once a funeral home.
Delete9th & Chestnut house could be so beautiful! I think they want about 100k for it...but I bet it would need another 200k on top of that to restore it. Such a shame!!
ReplyDeleteYes, it could easily become a money pit. You're right - it's a shame it has fallen to this condition.
Deleteoh my look at the left side support post from the Addams Family house.....looks unsafe and ready to collapse and take the roof above it too. this is scary. its on the safe routes to school. is it condemned???
ReplyDeleteYes, several parts of the exterior aren't looking too good.
DeleteWho owns the home??
ReplyDeleteNot sure. I've heard it was a repossession, and was purchased in the spring (?) for around $80,000.
DeleteIt might not be condemned, but a real estate agent described the house as "enter at your own risk" and it seem that whomever was in the last time, just stripped the house bare.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad, and it continues.
and so, it continues. nothing is done to correct the situation or at the very least protect innocent pedestrians who have no clue it's in sure disrepair......it was a beautiful property years ago and yes it was a funeral home and yes a few private owners moved in and out and each may have done some work,,,but as we all can see from just one picture-it looks unsafe.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it was a fine residence in its heyday.
Deletethank you to ALL the caretakers for all your time and talents!!
