Yesterday morning, right after 11 o'clock, it sounded like several large planes thundered over my house, heading south. The house shook. By the time I got to the window, all I could see was a plane in the distance, trailing exhaust, as it flew low over the Susquehanna. I don't think it was an airliner. I wonder if it was a C-130 on its way to Dover Air Force Base, in response to the latest terrorism alert.
I was on 462 at that very time Cole and there were at least 4 planes I saw. If I could have pulled over I would have taken a picture.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know. Except for the commenters to this blog, no one could verify any sighting of the planes. It felt like they flew directly over my house and that they were very low, because they made a thunderous rumble. I wish I could have seen them. Would've made an awesome photo.
DeletePossibly the Air National Guard unit out of HIA.

Thanks for the info. The site has photos of some huge planes, so you could be right.
DeleteI saw the same planes Saturday in mount joy
ReplyDeleteThanks for verifying this event. Maybe the pilots thought it was time for a Saturday outing.
DeleteNot from the 193rd. Those 130s Saturday were H models. The 193rd has J models. How you can tell is the J's have 6 props and are "clean". The H models have 4 props and have a "dirty" trail of exhaust.
ReplyDeleteYes, the one I saw in the distance had four engines and dirty exhaust.
DeleteI thought they were rather low too. They were dark grey and didn't look like passenger planes.
ReplyDeleteThey sounded very low and very large.
